Welcome to the ePortfolio California Community, a place for educators, institutions, the workplace, and students, to interact and share knowledge around ePortfolios for life long learning. To join a discussion, visit the Groups or Forum sections.

Our Objectives for Spring 2011
Our overall objective is to explore and understand how ePortfolios – academic, professional, and social – can benefit California students, educators, and employers. We seek to learn more about the many uses of ePortfolios, the various stakeholders who could benefit from their use, and the best practices that advance their effectiveness. We hope to create an engaging environment where educators are asking questions and learning from others who have answers.

Share Your Knowledge
To do this we need to learn from you. We invite you to share your experiences, practices, and resources with the ePortfolio California Community by hosting a web chat or webinar, sharing current or past presentation slides, and participating in community discussions.

Monthly Web Events
Beginning in February, ePortfolio California will host a series of interactive community presentations featuring educators, developers, employers, and others dedicated to using ePortfolios in a way that is beneficial to California learners. We will also be supporting the events of active organizations, such as EPAC, AAEEBL, and AAC&U, by bringing you news and information about ePortfolio projects around the world. In the process, we hope to inspire conversation and interaction, experiment with projects that connect students using ePortfolios.

If you missed February’s presentation with Jennifer Lau, Director of Educational Technology, Marymount College, you missed a great discussion on Jennifer’s experience selecting an ePortfolio tool based on a series of needs for an institution-wide implementation. But never fear! We’ve recorded the presentation and you can find the presentation files, as well as a link to the Elluminate archive, in the Resources section of this website. In addition, read Jennifer’s post-webinar “reflection” on her experience in the Forum section of this Community board.

Stay tuned! We will be releasing our full web event calendar here shortly.

Meanwhile, I encourage you to join this Community. Create an account and begin interacting. I have to say that we are experimenting with this discussion platform and I would appreciate your comments. If you are looking for the discussions, see the Forum section.

Thank you for now!

Deepening High-Impact Learning

January 29, 2011 – Hyatt Regency, San Francisco, CA

The ePortfolio Forum was everything it promised to be: engaging, interactive, and informative. ePortfolio California was at the event to record the sessions and keynote speeches for archival purposes. So if you missed this very special event, you’ll have an opportunity to view the presentations beginning February 14th, 2011. For more information, please contact Patricia Donohue, Program Manager, at pdonohue@cvc.edu.

______________________________________________________________________________________

An important ePortfolio event was held January 29 in San Francisco: “ePORTFOLIO FORUM: Deepening High-Impact Learning,” a day-long session with an interactive format and keynotes from leaders in the ePortfolio community.

The forum was sponsored by the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) project, VALUE: Valid Assessment of Learning in Undergraduate Education; and the Association for Authentic, Experiential and Evidence-Based Learning (AAEEBL). The forum was offered as part of the AAC&U Annual Meeting, “GLOBAL POSITIONING: Essential Learning, Student Success, and the Currency of U.S. Degrees,” January 26-29, Hyatt Regency Hotel, San Francisco.

About the Forum, from the AAC&U website:
The AAC&U second annual ePortfolio event—“ePortfolio Forum: Deepening High Impact Learning”—once again exposes participants to the core issues of the ePortfolio field, including reflection, implementation challenges, and assessment. Whether you see yourself as a beginner, intermediate, or advanced participant, we invite your involvement.

The Forum offered a highly interactive set of sessions, progressively more in-depth throughout the day, combined with three compelling keynotes from ePortfolio leaders doing cutting edge work in the field. Their pioneering content is specifically designed to address today’s most challenging ePortfolio issues and provide new solutions for old problems.

More information about this exciting event, including program details and a stellar roster of presenters, is available here:
